Djimini Mask, Do Society

Wooden mask associated with the Do society of the Djimini people. The face is surmounted by large, crescent-shaped horns and features heavy-lidded eyes with cross-hatched scarification, a straight central nose ridge, and a composed mouth. Lateral projecting elements and layered forms enhance its strong sculptural presence.

Rich brown patina with visible age and wear. 20th century.
